Life, the Universe and Everything (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #3)Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a very “all over the place” experience. As is usual in this series, the book throws around so much information, and this time the story is even more of a complicated, jumbled mess. Arthur is so confused in this one. For most of the book, he was in such shock that he was unable to speak and was just stuttering singular words like “W… W… Wh… What?”. It was annoying, especially when it happened again and again.

The story was so confusing I had to resort to Google to figure out what the big plot was supposed to be. The book has 100 pages of stuff that does not matter, and then the main plot points are two pages of random exposition in the middle of the text.

What I liked about the book, however, is how this useless information almost always gets used. The book makes up inside jokes and later uses them to move the story forward in the most random ways. The other reason it works is that the book is only about 190 pages, making it a quick and fun read if you are not expecting a deep plot and just want to read for fun. These are the things that make this book series special, and it is why I give it 3 stars.
